he 2006 Guam National Bodybuilding and Body Fitness Competition will be flexing full of talent at the Hyatt Regency Guam this Saturday.

Pre-judging will begin at 9 a.m. with the finals at 7 p.m. with doors opening an hour early.

About 20 or so participants are looking forward to oiling up for the show in front of Guam’s bodybuilding diehard fans, according to Steve Oshiro — one of the bodybuilders competing this weekend.

Terry Debold, Saturday’s event organizer, could not be reached for comments, to confirm the number of competitors.

For 38-year-old Oshiro, this will mark his first return to competition after a three-year break.

Oshiro said his two boys — Devin, 14, and Morgan, 9, — are a big part of why he’s
coming back to competition.

“Actually, my boys want to see me compete,” he said, adding that his boys are his major motivations.

Perhaps, he said, with his boys rooting for him now, he may be able to accomplish his major goal — the overall title.

“I’ve won all kinds of trophies and championships, except for this one,” Oshiro said about his life passion. He also said he has been in this business since he was a high school graduate at 17 years of age.

When asked if his kids would follow in their dad’s footsteps, he said no. They are into basketball more, although, he has worked with his older son with the weights in the past to get him stronger for competition.
