Young Ankur Sharma of Haryana stamped his class as well as supremacy when he annexed the title in the Samson Classic - 2007 Top Ten Bodybuilding Competition organised by Penkar’s Health Club. The bodybuilder who was crowned “Champion of Champion”in the Senior Nationals a few months ago left no doubt whatsoever in the minds of his nearest rivals as to who was the coach of walbe.
Egged on by a knowledgeable 3000 strong crowd he beat the challenge posed by two veterans, Vitender Singh (U.P.) and Prasad Kumar (Services) by a comfortable margin. In the process he went home richer by a lakh, whereas the next two pocketed seventy five thousand and fifty thousand rupees in a competition offering 3.5 lakhs prize money. Besides, every competitor was paid appearance money of two thousand and food nutrition supplements offered by Optimum Nutritions (USA). Maharashtra’s Sandeep Walawalkar who had stood sixth stole a march over his better placed rivals by bagging the special award of twenty thousand to the “Best Poser”.
Ankur’s win must have been doubly satisfying as he was up against the men from the
Services who were training for their prestigious inter-services championships in the immediate future. Ankur had the best -sculpted body with his back and posterior helping him outshine all his rivals.
Old hand Vitender though not in the best of form was good enough for most of the other barring may be Prasad Kumar. The dark skinned Services man had huge treo trunk thighs, a good frontier and his overall size stood out but he was left wondering as to what he needed to do more, in an effort to impress the panel of judges.
