Arnold visits his old army tankDate: 02.03.2003 Posted by: Anabolic Info Team United States
Before he was the Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger was just another soldier in the Austrian army. He was reunited with a part of his military past during a visit to a museum.
Schwarzenegger, 55, in town for the annual fitness exposition that bears his name, visited the Motts Military Museum in nearby Groveport on Friday. Schwarzenegger donated the 47-ton iron tank he used to drive to the facility in November 2000.
Standing beside the tank, Schwarzenegger told stories about his days in the army in 1965. On border patrol during the Cold War, Schwarzenegger drove the tank and slept under it.
He said that one night he left the motor running to keep warm while he and others stayed inside. They awoke at 5 a.m. in a river. For that, he spent three days in jail.
On another day, his superior officer led him into a frozen lake as a prank.
“He wanted to be a schmuck,” Schwarzenegger said, triggering a round of laughter.
During the tour, museum director Warren Motts dropped some hints for Schwarzenegger to donate his uniform.
“We’ll have to dig it out,” Schwarzenegger said before leaving the museum by saying his trademark line, “I’ll be back.”
