Arsenal star Theo Walcott's sister, Hollie, finished second in a national bodybuilding contest

THE Walcott family in Compton are celebrating their first piece of silverware this year after Hollie, sister of Arsenal star striker Theo, finished second in a national bodybuilding contest.
Bidding for top honours at the British Natural Bodybuilding Federation (BNBF) finals in Glasgow on Sunday (19), Miss Walcott’s day began with a hiccup after the flight booking company made an error and forgot to add tickets for her two children, Sebastian, aged five, and Aurora, aged four, to accompany her.
She said: “The delay made me even more nervous so I was a bit stressed when I arrived. Seeing all the bronze people there really brought home that this was the final.”
Miss Walcott was an entrant in the figure showing class at the tournament, where the emphasis is on a more feminine look than the overly muscular body shapes which can feed negative stereotypes around the discipline.
Up against seven other female regional winners from around the country, she said competition was fierce, but good-natured.
“I was really nervous but once I got on stage I was fine. I love being on stage and I love performing, it was really good fun,” she said.
Hearing the names read out in reverse order, she said she was just glad not to finish last, and although sad not to win, was delighted to be ranked the second best female figure showing natural bodybuilder in the country.
It is the only federation in Britain to drug test all of its winners, although despite finishing second, Miss Walcott was asked to go under a drug test. She passed and said she took it as a compliment that they considered her impressive enough to be tested.
After making slight alterations to her vegan diet as part of the preparations, she said she was enjoying snacks and treats as she recovered from the intense pre-tournament training regime.
“I’ve got a huge trophy, but one of the best things about it has been the amazing level of support I have had. There were loads of people there cheering me on and it was great having my kids and Ryan (Miss Walcott’s partner) there. But not only that, I’ve had strangers come up to me in the village wishing me luck, I’d like to thank them all for their support and kind words too.”
She said her first year has been a wonderful experience, and she will continue training and look to next season to enter as many contests as she can.
