BBFF: Looking for a few good girlsDate: 06.06.2003 Posted by: Anabolic Info Team Bahamas
A shortage of IFBB judges has caused the Bahamas Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation to strongly petition interested Bahamians, especially females, to participate in a two-day certification training programme.
With only five active IFBB judges locally, two of which have a grade two level certification, BBFF operation director Danny Sumner, said Wednesday that The Bahamas needs more judges.
"We intend to go out in a massive programme to educate and train our people for judging, fitness and bodybuilding," Sumner said. "We are looking for judges, male and females, but in particular more females than males."
Sumner said the need for more females was due to the vast number of females entering into female bodybuilding and fitness. There are only four local certified female judges but no IFBB female judges.
In conjunction with the IFBB, BBFF executives are expected to teach the course in New Providence, Grand Bahama and Abaco only. The programme is expected to start July 11 in New Providence then move to Grand Bahama and then Abaco.
Topics to be covered will include:
* How to access an athlete's physique
* Dealing with all of the major muscles
* How to assess a fitness athlete in terms of their overall structure and theometrical proportion.
"From my position as operation director and president of the Judges and Certified Officials Association, I can make recommendation to the CAC for Bahamian judges to take the judges' initial test over here in New Providence."
Local IFBB judges include Sumner, and Paul Wong, who both have a grade two certification, along with Donald Saunders, Richard Demeritte and Jeremy Knowles. The BBFF look to recommend persons to become test judges at the upcoming CAC Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships in New Providence, Sept. 24-28.
