Big winners at National Bodybuilding and Body Fitness ChampsDate: 12.06.2007 Posted by: Anabolic Info Team Guadeloupe
Richard Nelson of Body By Cliff in Montego Bay, Rushain Ruddock of the Sweatshop and Marcus White of Body Language Fitness Centre, muscled their way to the top of their class Sunday night in front of an appreciative crowd at the National Bodybuilding and Body Fitness Championships at Stephanie Hall, Holy Childhood High School.
Shelly-Ann McFarlane of Campion Pep-Up walked away with the Junior Miss Jamaica title, while Debbie Hall of Spartan Health was adjudged winner of the Miss Jamaica Body Fitness crown.
Solid as a rock, Nelson eased through the Junior Mr Jamaica for the title, with the Mighty Moves Gym duo of Michael Clarke and Everald Wheatly taking the runners-up positions.
"I've been working out six days a week, three hours a day for about three months. It was very hard work, but it paid off in the long run," Nelson told the Observer after his victory.
"I will be coming back in August for the Mr Jamaica (Light Heavyweight) to see what I can do," added Nelson, who placed third last year in that competition.
White of Body Language Fitness Centre in Spanish Town triumphed in the Novice Mr Jamaica, beating off a field of 14 challengers.
"I had to prove to the crowd that I have it. I was the favourite and I am proud of myself," said White, who got the nod over the smaller but better physically prepared Ainsworth Carridice of Body Trend with Dwight Campbell of the Sweat Shop taking third.
Ruddock, a nineteen-year-old of the Sweat Shop, had no equal and he wrapped up the trophy and prizes in the Teenage Mr Jamaica with the crowd's overwhelming approval.
"If it wasn't for my trainer, I would not have reached this far. He really helped me and pushed me. I was confident that I would win," Ruddock said.
"I will be going for the Novice Mr Jamaica next year," he emphasised.
Ruddock won over Aron Ireland of Image Fitness Centre in Portland and Andre Parrisos Satchell Gym.
Spartan's Hall took apart the field in the Miss Jamaica Body Fitness, winning also best condition, best presentation and best figure sectional prizes.
She edged out Gymkhana's Shanique Green, who would have been better served in the Miss Jamaica Junior competition. Green also won the best leg sectional prize. Terri Garrison of Spartan placed third.
"I turned up the intensity of my workout the past year, so I was really, really expecting this," said the 27-year-old Hall.
Campion Pep-Up's McFarlane stole the limelight in the Junior Miss Jamaica, beating Rosanna Hull and Pauline Samuels, both of Portmore Fitness Club.
Staged by the Jamaica BodyBuilding and Fitness Association, the National Bodybuilding and Body Fitness Championships was supported by RST Industries, the Wisynco Group Ltd, Lascelles Laboratories, Facey Commodity Company Ltd, Soft Sheen Products, Rosh Marketing Company Ltd among others.
