Bodybuilders aim for Mr and Miss WorldDate: 24.05.2007

LAST weekend seven athletes from FX Fitness in Berwick competed at the annual Mr and Miss Scotland bodybuilding championships.
The pre-event talk was of the possibility of the greatest Mr and Miss Scotland show ever. The event certainly lived up to the hype with 54 top athletes competing for the honours.
First up for FX Fitness was Berwick's Lee 'Boom Boom' Moore who competed against 10 other juniors in the under 21 class. Lee fought the battle of his life and secured a well deserved second place. Lee said "I'm happy with the result, my main aim was to qualify for the Mr Britain on May 19 where I plan to hit my peak."
Up next was Michelle Periera of Berwick in the Toned Miss Figure Class. This was only Michelle's second contest, Michelle was extremely nervous leading up to the show, however, she did herself and the club proud by presenting a complete and balanced healthy look on stage. This class was of a very high standard and Michelle was unfortunate not to make the top six. Michelle absolutely loved the experience and can't wait for the next round of competitions.
William Thompson, also from Berwick, was up next in the Novice class. Willie was quite simply a 'cut above the rest,' taking straight firsts from all nine judges leaving the competition in his wake. Wullie has thrived and shone throughout his preparations and has the attitude to go all the way to the top if he so desires.
FX Fitness's pocket battleship Sean Ryan was in the shape of his life having transformed his physique over the past year. Sean, from Berwick, had a real war on his hands taking on one of Scotland's finest athlete's Graham Park. Unfortunately, This was one of the tightest decisions of the day with Sean earning a well deserved second place.
Scott McKenzie from Duns had to compete in what was without a doubt the hardest class of the day. The line up was close to Mr. Universe standard, however, Scott fought all the way to the end and earned himself a lot of respect and sixth place. Scott now knows that to move ahead in the sport he has to gain some serious muscle mass, which he informs me he will achieve over the coming year.
Probably the biggest guy from FX Fitness competing was Gary Wilson from Tillicoultry, who competed in class two. There was much speculation about the outcome of this class prior to the event. Gary had an extremely professional approach which paid dividends on the day when he outclassed the rest of the field to claim Class two Mr Scotland.
Last up for FX Fitness was Pip
Charlton of Berwick who manages the club. Pip took part in the largest ladies line up for many years in the Trained Miss Figure contest. Pip is one of the most meticulous athlete's I know and prepares like a true champion. Pip was a clear deserving winner and a great future in the sport.
Lee (8th in class), Willie (2nd), Sean, Gary (4th) and Pip (5th) all went to Southport to compete for the Mr and Miss Britain title on Saturday (May 19). All five have also been invited to compete for the Mr and Miss World title to be held in Malta on Saturday, June 9.
"I'm proud of all Team FX! Until someone actually prepares for one of these competitions they will never truly understand the physical and mental demands placed on the athlete," said owner Steph Sinton. "Furthermore, the stresses placed on close ones and family members is phenomenal. I have the utmost respect for these guys and their families!"
