Bodybuilders set for Flex contest

PREPARATIONS are underway for the third Flex Bodybuilding Championship scheduled for September 22 at the Gulf Air Club Gym in Salmabad under the patronage of Southern Governor Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

The organising committee was formed and is headed by Saleh Al Ammar. Ali Amini will head the referee committee, while the discipline committee is headed by Hussain Abdulla.

"Invitations were sent to bodybuilders from Bahrain, the GCC and other Arab countries and we are expecting more than 40 contestants to take part in this annual championship being organised for the third consecutive year," said Al Ammar.

Al Ammar confirmed that the organising committee is keen to make this year's event a success following the tremendous success of the previous two championships.

"The Bahrain national bodybuilding team members will not be taking part in the championship as they are presently preparing for the 2006 Asian Games in Doha," added Al Ammar.

Al Ammar extended his appreciation to Shaikh Abdulla for patronising this event for the third consecutive year and thanked Gulf Air Club for hosting this year's championship for the first time, and hoped to receive further support from the club in the next editions of the event.
