REIGNING Mr and Ms Zimbabwe bodybuilding champions Givemore Marume and Claudia Gopal-Muvuti have not forgotten the less privileged members of the society this festive season.

Marume said they have embarked on a programme that will see them visiting several towns around the country giving out hampers and encouraging the disabled people to take up the sport of bodybuilding.

This year’s Ms Zimbabwe, Gopal-Muvuti, a devout Christian, will accompany Marume on the first presentation at Mabvuku Roman Catholic Church this Sunday.

"Christmas is a time for remembering those less fortunate members of our society.

"We will be doing some charity work at Mabvuku Catholic on Sunday and also present food hampers to disabled members of the community.

"The Sports Commission has also given us their support and some of the commissioners are expected to be at the presentation," said Marume.

Marume said several corporate organisations have given hampers which they will be handing out.

"Some support has come through from companies like Delta, Saltrama and Blue Ribbon and I will be moving to other suburbs and towns.

"We do not have a lot of disabled people taking up the sport of bodybuilding and I hope that we will also be able to encourage some to take up bodybuilding," said Marume.

Marume made it three in a row for the prestigious Mr Zimbabwe bodybuilding title at the 7 Arts Theatre in October while Gopal-Muvuti was crowned Ms Zimbabwe for the first time.
