Sheriff's deputies, police officers, firefighters, and paramedics put their strength and endurance to the test Saturday.
They competed in the second annual Keith Ruiz Benefit Bench Press competition, named after Travis County Sheriff's Deputy Keith Ruiz, who was killed in the line of duty in February 2001.
"I'm part of the SWAT team which was with Keith the night he was killed. It's a very big cause for all of us so that's why I think we got the turnout that we got to help support the event," said Deputy Craig Smith of Travis County Sherriff's Office.
The 25 lifters raised a little more than $4,000 for the fallen officer's memorial fund.
