FAMILY man, firefighter, former boxer - and now Delroy Galloway now has a new title to add to his belt...bodybuilder of the year.
The 38-year-old, from Burngreave, not only scooped the Yorkshire Natural Physique Association title in June but has also walked away with the British novice accolade - all in his debut year of the sport.
But the father-of-two said he couldn't have done it without the help of his sons Dempsey and Kassius as well as partner Kathryn.
"The support I get from Kathryn and the kids is phenomenal," said Del, who trains five days a week at Hillsborough Leisure Centre.
"Kath goes above and beyond the call of duty preparing my meals. I eat every three hours and everything is ready for me in Tupperware, whether it's turkey and rice or six eggs with four of the yolks removed, she will have prepared it to the letter and I'm so grateful for her."
The firefighter, who is based at the Brigade Training Centre in Handsworth, said: "The kids have come to all the shows with me. They even have t-shirts with me on them. It's become a real family event.
"There's no way I would have achieved all this without them There's only one person standing on that stage but to get to that point it took 10 months of work and preparation."
Del also praised his mentor Lloyd Stewart, the current Yorkshire, British, UK and European champion, who is also from Sheffield.
"I'm always trying to tweak my training methods too," added Del. "I get a lot of help from Lloyd as he is a bodybuilding expert and my inspiration. Without his help, I wouldn't have had this success so soon.
"Also Eric at Hillsborough Leisure Centre is brilliant for my cardio vascular routines. I seriously consider my victory to be a feather in the cap of all the team."
After hanging up his boxing gloves the former amateur middleweight, of Firs Hill Avenue, found himself in need of a new goal and turned to bodybuilding.
After just six months of intense training and a strict eating regime, he took the Yorkshire title before clinching the British accolade at the finals in Coventry.
"I competed against 11 other qualifiers and all the hard work and dedication paid off when I was given a score of five by the judges. In layman's terms - I couldn't have gained a higher score.
"I was delighted - not just for me - but for the long list of people who support me too."
The next step is the European championships, but due to qualification complexities Del will have to win the Yorkshire competition again next year to get his shot.
He added: "My aim is to go to the Euros and win. I'm full of confidence and I've got a magnificent group of people fighting my corner but I'm taking it one step at a time.
"In good time, I want to follow in Lloyd's footsteps and become another world class natural bodybuilding champion for Sheffield to be proud of."
