Branch Warren, known for his muscle density and extreme workouts, is injured and will not be in the Olympia lineup. The injury did not take place in the gym, but while getting into a car in Atlanta, Georgia. Warren was there as a guest poser over the weekend.
Warren slipped on wet pavement; tearing his right quadriceps tendon and ending hopes of overthrowing four time Mr. Olympia, Jay Cutler. It is only four weeks away from the September 16 &17 bodybuilding event in Las Vegas, Nevada, which leaves no time to recuperate.
Warren left Atlanta to meet the team of doctors at Baylor Hospital, Texas, who will be doing the surgery, if they feel it necessary. For the moment, the doctors expect a full recovery, and Warren should be able to defend his title at the 2012 Arnold Classic.
Earlier this year, Warren won the Arnold Classic and his fifth Most Muscular Award. Over several years, Warren came up short by placing across the board for the Arnold, but that did not stop the IFBB bodybuilding pro from going to the Olympia. Warren placed 12th in the 2006 Olympia, but moved up within the last few years, placing second and third.
