Cambridge's Tannis Maciel enjoyed her first foray into the world of competitive bodybuilding this past summer so much she decided to enter another competition.
This time the bodybuilder and fitness instructor tried her hand at Neutron Sports' Canadian Natural Nationals event held recently in Oshawa. There she finished second in her category, as she had done in the Musclemania Canada event in July sponsored by the World Natural Sports Organization.
While the Neutron Sports organization usually requires a top three finish in one of their other events for qualification to the nationals, her second place in the July event was permitted to be substituted.
In Oshawa Maciel competed in the women's open 5 ft. 5 in. or under category while in July she competed in the women's lightweight category.
"I'm really excited," said Maciel. "A top five finish qualifies you for the (Neutron Sports) international team."
The placing will allow Maciel to compete for Neutron internationally for the next year.
