HA NOI — Asian bodybuilding champion Nguyen Thi My Linh won three gold medals for HCM City at the National Bodybuilding Championships in An Giang Province on Sunday.
After four days of competition, HCM City finished first with nine gold medals, hosts An Giang finished second with five golds and Dong Nai third with four gold medals.
Linh, competing in the women’s over-52kg class, won the single’s title, the mixed doubles – alongside Dao Anh Dung – and the all-round event.
At the Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship hosted in Viet Nam last year Linh also won a clutch of gold medals to help the national team finish first with five gold medals, three silvers and one bronze, ahead of South Korea and Singapore.
The HCM City-based athlete’s performance this year should boost her confidence for the upcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Thailand this December.
Meanwhile, in the men’s division, world champion Pham Van Mach dominated the 60kg category taking three gold medals for An Giang.
In the body fitness event, which made its championship debut this year, Hanoian Pham Thi Ngoc Trang, who won a silver medal in the Asian championship last year, won the under 1.6m category, while Lam Dong’s Nguyen Thi Kim Chi took the over 1.6m division title.
The national championship attracted 136 men and women in junior and senior weight categories. — VNS |
