The tradition continues.
That's the motto promoter Ken Russell is adopting as the Dubbo International Bodybuilding Championships enter their 16th straight year on Saturday night.
To be held at the Dubbo RSL Club, the championships have once again drawn the best bodies from throughout New South Wales and the ACT with two competitors also coming from Victoria.
Dubbo has three men stepping up to display the results of hours of hard work at the gym with experienced campaigner Ricky See lining up alongside Joe Cavanagh and Shane Rayment.
Other competitors from the central west include Shaye Morris and Ian Murray from Orange, Lithgow will be represented by Tania Legatt, Maree O'Brien, Anne Ratcliff and Lucille Christofis and Mark Gersbach from Parkes is back again.
Russell said the tradition he and wife Elaine Russell have built up is a source of great pride and expected another night of quality entertainment on Saturday.
"I'm not sure if any other outside sporting organisation has run events in Dubbo for 16 consecutive years but it's something Elaine and I are very proud of," Russell said.
"The fact that we have been able to stage the bodybuilding championships for 16 straight years is, I think, quite special.
"I've already bumped into a number of people this week who went for the first time last year and they've all said they'll be back again on Saturday night.
"The most common feedback we get is that the night is nothing like they expected and it is more than just people displaying their terrific bodies, it's a full package night of entertainment."
On top of the impressive trophies on offer, competitors are also in line to win flights to New Zealand to represent Australia at an international event.
Ricky See and Tania Legatt have been selected from the Dubbo championships in past years with Legatt going on to win her division and the overall category.
Pre-judging will begin at 9.30am on Saturday with cost of entry $10 while the finals will be held from 6.30pm where the cost of entry is $20.
