Contestants fit for show of strength

IRON men and women went muscle mad on Saturday as they battled it out in South Cheshire's equivalent to the World's Strongest Man competition.
Organised by fitness fanatic Tim Rosiek, from Wistaston, 24 super-fit men and women from across the area fought it out.
The competition, held at Fitness First on West Street, Crewe, heralded four winners in four categories who proved their powerhouse qualities in a series of tests.
Tim, 24, of Bateman's Court, said: 'This was probably the most successful iron man competition I've held so far. We even had a great spectator turnout, cheering them on which was great to see.
'It's always good fun to hold this event and it gives the competitors a chance to go up against each other.
Entrants were asked to perform dead-lift, shoulder press, leg press, bench press, chin-ups, sit-ups and dips in the contest.
Tim was joined by father Clive and Chris Goodall for the judging. Rae Smith was victorious in the female class, collecting a total of 54 points, and Ben Vickers' 52 points won him the male under 13 stone category.
Kelvin Hinde scooped the 13-15 stone section with 50 points and the over 15 stone category was won by Shaun Hampton, who was also the overall winner with most points on the day (56).
Shaun, from Crewe, won an evening in the Octagon suite at Curshaws in Nantwich as well as bed and breakfast, worth a total of L170.
The other category winners were given a big tub of PHD protein worth L40 each and all competitors were handed a PHD shaker bottle.
Tim added: 'I'll definitely be holding the competition again next year if people keep turning out in numbers like this.
'The event encourages people to get into a fitness regime and creates competition to help people achieve their goals.'
Tim has been bodybuilding for more than six years and finished runner-up in the Mr Class of the World Fitness Federation's World Championship in Chrisoupoli, Greece, last year.
A personal trainer at Fitness First, he was also first novice and second overall at the North Staffs Open.
He was first novice at the Mr England and Mr Wigan contests and also scooped the overall prize at the latter.
