National Physique champion and stalwart bodybuilder, Dave Peters, expects to take this year’s Nestlé National Bodybuilding competition by storm.

Speaking to the SUN about the upcoming show, Peters said his preparations are right on track and that he will be in the best shape come the night of the show.

“So far everything is on stream – my dieting is coming on quite nicely and I think that I will be in the best shape of my life and I am hoping to take the show by storm,” he said.

“My dieting was the hardest part of the preparations but I think that am getting it together as time goes by because you learn from your past experiences and the fact that am getting my dieting under control tells me that I am going to be in my best shape ever,” Peters said.
The often colourful presenter added that he is somewhat disappointed that his long time rival and defending champion, Steve Williams, will not be taking part in the competition this time around. According to Peters, he never defeated the veteran on stage and would have liked the opportunity to challenge him – especially knowing that he would have to be at his best on the night of the show.

“I am a bit disappointed because Steve has been my biggest rival and I have never beaten him before even though I think that I am actually only one of the only bodybuilders around that could really take him because it will take a really complete bodybuilder to beat him,” he said.

He, however, said the show should prove to be an interesting one as a number of other bodybuilders have been showing improvement and will be looking to make a statement on the night.

“Personally speaking, I think that with those two (Williams and Women's Champion Beverley Percival) out, that makes the competition a little easier but I think that there are quite a few other bodybuilders who still have something in them to really prove a point,” he said.

“Ollyn (Martin) has come a long way and has improved over the years – last year he edged me out but I hope that this year I will be able to take him down,” Peters told the SUN.

The Antigua & Barbuda Bodybuilding & Weightlifting Nestlé Bodybuilding & Figure Show will be staged on 23 June at the Cathedral Cultural Centre. The show is slated to pose off at 8 p.m.
