LOCAL businesswoman Donna Davidson flexed her muscles last weekend to win the East of England Women's Physique Bodybuilding Champoionships in Leicester.
Her victory in the 57kg class qualified her for the British Finals which are to be held in Nottingham next month and she is now back in training for the event which is to be held on October 8.
Donna, who comes from Burnmouth, and who runs 247ink.com with her husband, Neil, in Berwick, is the only bodybuilder from the region to have qualified for the finals which are run by the IFBB, the largest bodybuilding organisation in the world.
She has been coached by her husband in the gym and given advice on her diet by Douglas Black of Extreme Nutrition Ltd of West Calder.
"Without their help, knowledge and support I would not have been able to achieve what I have," she said.
Donna was in training and dieting for the competition for 16 weeks, training twice a day, six days a week at Harpers Fitness Centre in the Swan Leisure Centre in Tweedmouth.
"The training was tough," she said, "but the hardest thing was the strict diet which meant eating seven meals a day consisting of some form of protein and vegetables."
This was Donna's first physique competition and she would like to thank the staff at the Swan Centre for being so helpful. She would also like to thank Eyemouth Leisure Centre for the use of their excellent cardio facilities and the staff at 247ink.com for being so supportive of her efforts.
"I have just over four weeks to the British Finals," she said, "which means I will have to increase both the intensity of my training and diet in an effort to succeed against the best female bodybuilders in the country."
