The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has advised consumers, and in particular bodybuilders, about a serious problem in relation to capsules being sold over the Internet. The FSAI has discovered that "fat burner" capsules contain an industrial chemical, which is known to have serious short-term and long-term health effects on humans if consumed. It is advising the general public not to consume "fat burner" products which contain dangerous 2, 4-Dinitrophenol (DNP) and consumers are advised to read labels carefully for identification of these chemicals. This advice follows reports from the Finnish National Food Agency of the hospitalisation of a Finnish bodybuilder after taking "fat burner" capsules. |
