With the all the controversy of Monica Brant leaving the International Federation of Bodybuilders and Fitness (IFBB) for the World Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation (WBFF) she has made waves yet again. Brant stepped on stage with other pro athletes who have been in the WBFF organization for some time, including Emily Stirling, two time WBFF World Champion, and risen to the top. In her pro debut at the 2010 WBFF World Championships former IFBB Pro took the show by storm when she placed first and debunked Stirling.
This championship win is glorious for Brant who has not placed above second since the 2006 IFBB Arnold Classic but where does that leave the WBFF? Is there some sort of controversy here? Perhaps? Had Brant not taken the championship the question would be "why not?" but now there are people in the WBFF organization asking "why?"
Within the WBFF industry there is dismay with athletes and figure heads disheartened. For instance; Daryl Gazey, WBFF Director of Operations, has voiced a loud complaint on Facebook about the unfair titling of this event called WBFF Directors Rant - "Controversial Bullsh*t and Prescribed Winning."
Regardless of the controversy and hard feelings of some of the athletes and WBFF organization; bodybuilding is "politics." Had Brant not won, wouldn't someone be writing a rant on the controversies of her moving to another organization only to get shafted? Either way, this is a hard place for all athletes and organizations.
