Nicaragua's Jorge Campbell won gold in the men's senior category for 100 kg and under. Belizeans Leroy heley Longsworth won silver and Ernest Broaster won bronze.
Guatemalan athletes won the most medals – thirteen – when Belize hosted the Central American bodybuilding and fitness championships at the Bliss Institute of the Performing Arts last Saturday night, June 30.
And while Guatemala won the most medals, with Belize coming in second with eleven medals, Nicaragua won the most gold medals, seven among fifteen categories. Guatemala and El Salvador won three golds each, and Belize won two gold medals.
Tyrone Gomez won Nicaragua’s first gold medal, in the Open Junior category, with Ivan Quezada of El Salvador winning the silver and Jose Siquina of Guatemala taking the bronze.
Mauricio Salgado won El Salvador’s first gold medal in the Masters’ Open category, with Gilroy Nembhard of Belize winning the silver medal and Rudy Delgado of Guatemala taking the bronze.
Nelly Morales won Guatemala’s first gold medal in Bodyfitness for women of 1.58cm height and under. Kathy Canas of El Salvador won the silver and Francisca Juarez of Guatemala took the bronze. Lurnette Sankey of Belize placed fourth.
Arely Guzman won a second gold for Guatemala’s in Bodyfitness for women of 1.63cm height and under. Nathalin Vasquez, also of Guatemala won the silver and Rosa Saravia of Nicaragua took the bronze. Gina Lovell of Belize placed fourth.
Belizean women swept the Bodyfitness category for women of 1.68cm height and over. Kayla Jinell Myvett won the gold, Arlene Welch won silver and Josephine Gault took home the bronze.
Sandra Lopez won a second gold medal for El Salvador in fitness for women of 1.64cm height and under. Kimberly Weir of Belize won the silver and Yennifer Guerra of Guatemala took the bronze.
Ricardo Ramirez won a second gold for Nicaragua in the Men’s Senior category for 65kg and under. Mario Salazar of El Salvador won the silver and Jose Siquina of Guatemala took the bronze, his second of the night.
Diego Salinas won a third gold for El Salvador in the Men’s Senior category for 70kg and under. Mauricio Salgado of El Salvador won the silver and Rudy Delgado of Guatemala took the bronze, his second of the night.
Yadira Morales won a third gold medal for Nicaragua in women’s bodybuilding category for 55kg and under. Ruth Sosa of El Salvador won the silver and Maria Sonia Pisquity of Guatemala took the bronze.
Nicaraguan women also won gold in the bodybuilding category for 55kg and over. Suhad Zaharan won the gold and Rosalinda Oirdonez of Guatemala took the silver. There were only two competitors in this category.
Belizean men won a second silver medal in the senior category for men of 75kg and under. Tyrone Gomez of Nicaragua won the gold and Deon Danderson won the silver. Hector Samayoa of Guatemala took the bronze.
The Nicaraguan men won another gold in the senior category for men of 80kg and under. Marlon Carillo won the gold, Gilroy Nembhard won the silver, his second of the night, and Carlos Lopez took the bronze.
Diego Bran won a third gold for Guatemala in the Senior category for Men of 85kg and under. Franklin Suarez of Nicaragua won the silver and Victor Valencia of Belize took the bronze.
Rene Gordon won a second gold for Belize in the men’s senior category for 90kg and under. He was the only competitor in this category.
Jorge Cambell won a seventh gold for Nicaragua in the men’s senior heavyweight category for 100kg and under. Belizeans Leroy Healy Longsworth won silver and Ernest Broaster took the bronze. |
