Liberty muscles up

The Liberty Community Center will hold its annual Southern States Classic Figure & Xtreme Fit Championshipon Friday and Saturday.

Men and women take center stage for the drug-free lif-style event.

This is the seventh show that John and Becky Arnold, a pair of Liberty bodybuilders, have staged.

This regional competition, open to female and male amateur drug-free bodybuilders and fitness competitors of all ages, shapes and sizes is sanctioned by the North American Natural Bodybuilding Federation. This organization holds more than 20 national contests a year.

"We're proud to be a drug-free organization doing something about the unhealthy abuse of illegal growth-enhancement drugs in our sport, John Arnold of ProActive Fitness, said.

"Every bodybuilder is polygraph-tested and we do a urinalysis for our back-up testing procedure. If they don't pass, they're banned from our federation for seven years."

About 80 are expected.
