MARQUETTE — Bodybuilder Eric Mason of Marquette, who works as a Michigan probation and parole officer, won two titles March 31 in the Mid-Illinois Bodybuilding Championship.
He took the Over 35 Masters and Overall titles, as well as the Light-heavy Class.
Mason competed against 14 other contestants to win his weight class and went on against three other weight class winners to win the overall Mid-Illinois Bodybuilding Championships.
Mason started competing 10 years ago when he married personal trainer and national competitor Tracy Mason.
“It was great to see Eric accomplish such a big win being he spread himself so thin,” Tracy Mason said, who, like her husband, trains at Joe’s Gym in Marquette.
“Eric was getting up at 4:30 a.m. every morning the last six weeks prior to competing to get his cardio training in before work, besides ... doing another training session in the evening.”
