Local bodybuilders make strong showingDate: 13.05.2007

HALIFAX — Barry Gwynn captured one provincial title and finished runner-up in another category to highlight a strong showing by eight Cape Bretoners at the Nova Scotia Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships held at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium.
Gwynn, part owner of Moxham Fitness in Sydney River, won the Nova Scotia title in the men’s masters category and placed second in the men’s light heavyweight class to account for two of the 11 top-five finishes by the Cape Breton contingent.
The only other Cape Bretoner to emerge with a title was Shannon Lynch of Westmount, who won the women’s overall tall-figure class.
Rosanne Cameron of Moxham Fitness made sure her first competition was a memorable one by placing second in the women’s light middleweight class and fourth in the women’s masters.
Spryo Tryfos also had two top-five placings. He was second in the men’s light middleweight category and fourth in the men’s masters.
Jill Crummey of Moxham Fitness finished third in the women’s heavyweight division.
Two other first-time competitors placed fourth in their respective categories. Jimmy Donato of Moxham Fitness was fourth in the men’s heavyweight class while Jeff Aker of Platinum Fitness was fourth in the welterweight category.
Terry Hendrix of Moxham Fitness placed fifth in the men’s heavyweight division.
