The Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (GBFA) will organise the 'Man Ghana 2011' national bodybuilding championship at the Prempeh Hall in Kumasi on Saturday, October 8.
The theme for this year's event is ‘Bodybuilding as a preventive and curative medicine’.
The national organiser of the GBFA, Samuel Adjei, explained to the Daily Graphic that the championship is going to Kumasi again due to the successful hosting of the event last year.
He revealed that the proposed activities for this year’s competition included health and fitness walk to be held in both Accra and Kumasi to create awareness of the event before the main show.
The Ashanti Regional Organiser, Mr Oware, gave an assurance that the regional association was ready to host another grand show to the admiration of all.
Kofi Salia, aka Asase, who hails from the Ashanti Region won the 'Man Ghana' (overall best award) for the third time running last year, compelling officials of the GBFA led by Mr Abdul-Hayye Yartey, to retire him from local competitions and rather groom him to win laurels for the nation.
Following the progress of Ghana bodybuilding in recent times, coupled with the impressive performances of the national bodybuilding team in African Championships, Ghana earned the right to host the rest of Africa in the 2010 edition in Accra early this year.
