Mr Borneo to be held at Wisma Merdeka

Sabah Amateur Boby Building Association (SBBA) will be hosting the Mr Borneo Bodybuilding Championship 2010 at Wisma Merdeka here on October 9.

Joint organisers for the event will be Wisma Merdeka Management Sdn Bhd.

A meeting was held between SBBA and WMMSB here yesterday, which confirmed, among others, the prize money that would be on offer at the one-day event.

Joint organising committee chairman Joannes Staneslous said that a total of RM5,100 will be given away to winners who will compete in six categories.

Joannes said that SBBA and WMMSB would be giving away RM300 to the champion in each category, while the runners up to fifth place winners would receive RM200, RM150, RM100, RM100 respectively.

He added that there would also be the battle of the champion of the champions.

"We are also giving away Best Poser Award as well as the Overall Winner.

Boby builders from Brunei, Sarawak, Sabah Police, Labuan and Kalimantan, Indonesia are expected to take part in the event.

"Each team is allowed to parade two athletes for each of the categories," said Joannes.

Joannes, who is also the SBBA Deputy President, said that they have tentatively named the KK City Hall community hall as the venue of the championship.

He said that the pre-judging will be held in the morning while the finals in the evening.

Joannes said Sabah will be defending their overall title in this championship with its top hulkster Yong Chee Ken seeking his fourth consecutive champion of the champions crown after having have won it the last three years.

Also at the meeting was joint organising chairman Larry Wong, who is WMMSB Phase 1 Complex Manager and SBBA President Joseph Sylvester, among others.
