Nor Perwira Jaya withdraws protest against 2-year banDate: 12.12.2003 Posted by: Anabolic Info Team Singapore
The two-year suspension on bodybuilder Nor Perwira Jaya bin Rahmat will remain in effect as he has withdrawn his protest against the ruling, the Singapore Bodybuilders' Federation (SBBF) said on Friday.
Nor Perwira Jaya was slapped with the disciplinary measure after he tested positive for furosemide, a banned substance.
He took the dope test just before the Asian Championship in mid-September.
The bodybuilder, who competes in the light weight category, then lodged a protest on 9 October.
A review of the case was scheduled to be heard on December 18.
But in Friday's statement, the SBBF said Nor Perwira Jaya sent a letter from his solicitors, dated 10 December, to withdraw the protest.
The statement did not give any reason why he changed his mind.
Following the receipt of the letter, the SBBF's Protest Review Committee accepted the formal withdrawal and cancelled the December 18 hearing.
The protest withdrawal means Nor Perwira Jaya's ban will stay until 1 October 2005.
Nor Perwira Jaya was axed from Team Singapore just a week before the squad left to compete in the SEA Games in Vietnam.
Late last month, bantamweight bodybuilder Edwin Tan was given a lifetime ban for taking the prohibited drug, 19-Norandrosterone. It was his second violation of a prohibited banned substance. |
