Fitness competition
Tomorrow is the 2006 Michelob Ultra Guam National Bodybuilding & Body Fitness Championships at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Tumon. Prejudging begins at 9 a.m. and tickets will be available at the door at $7. The final competition starts at 7 p.m. tickets are $20 at the door. Athletes participating in the competition must attend the mandatory weigh-in held at 7 p.m. today at Gold's Gym, Maite. Athletes are asked to bring their CDs, and entry and membership fees.

Ocean Adventures
Guam Public Television KGTF presents the national PBS series "Jean-Michel Cousteau: Ocean Adventures." Jean-Michel Cousteau and his team of 'oceanauts' will explore dangerous and spectacular locales across the globe in the six-part Ocean Adventures series made for public television. (See schedule at the PDN Web site at www.guampdn.com). In conjunction with the series, KGTF is sponsoring an outreach workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 25 at the Guam Marriott Hotel. The workshop will focus on enhancing the series' themes of ecosystem stability and sustainable management of the ocean's resources by emphasizing the interconnectedness of organisms and the dependence of all life on aquatic environments. The day's agenda includes guest speakers, work sessions, a luncheon and a tour of the Underwater World Aquarium. There is no cost, however seating is limited and registration is on "first come, first served" basis. Women's scholarship
The Soroptimist Women's Opportunity Award Program for 2006-2007 academic year is offering two $500 awards for two undergraduate students for eligible women only.
Winners will be eligible to compete at the district and regional levels; the first-place regional winner will receive $5,000 and two second-place winners will receive $3,000. The first-place regional winner will then become a candidate for one of three $10,000 finalist awards.

Bellringers' brunch
The Guam Women's Club will host the fifth annual Bellringers' brunch and holiday fashion show from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 26 at the Hyatt Regency Guam's grand ballroom. Proceeds from the event will benefit The Salvation Army Guam Corps and the GWC philanthropic fund.

Featured will be fashions from Macy's, plus entertainment and a silent auction. Airline tickets will be raffled off.

Tickets are $35 for adults and $17 for children age 6 to 12 (younger children are free).

Guma' Mami meeting
Guma' Mami, Inc. will hold its semi-annual membership meeting and membership drive at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 21 at the Hilton Guam Resort & Spa's Micronesian Room.

Members are reminded to update their membership and RSVP by Nov. 17.

Guma' Mami is also looking for people, organizations or corporations wishing to become members of Guma' Mami, and is currently looking for sponsors for people with disabilities to be able to attend the meeting. Sponsorship fee is $20 per consumer, which covers membership dues for a year and a Thanksgiving luncheon.

Guma' Mami is a private nonprofit, community-based organization that provides advocacy, housing and support services to people with cognitive/development disabilities and other disabilities.

Challenge Day to be hosted by yacht club
The Marianas Yacht Club will host Challenge Day from noon to 4 p.m. on Nov. 19 at the club in Piti.

The public is invited to afternoon of free laser, dinghy, boardsailing and kayaking, with fun races for the entire family. There will also be free T-shirts and hot dogs while supplies last.

In conjunction with the Compassionate Friends' 10th annual candlelight service, there will be a meeting at 7 p.m. today at the First Church of God in Barrigada.

Public grand opening of Harley-Davidson
Guam Harley-Davidson has announced the relocation of its Barrigada sales and service store to its new location in the former Joe & Flo's Building in Asan. There will be a public grand opening on Nov. 26, with more than 8,000 square feet of retail and service space. Everyone is invited to a welcome breakfast, "motorcycle-cade" to Tumon, motorcycle rodeo, music and entertainment and raffle prizes throughout the day.

Local maintenance services will continue with their new service department's maintenance bays, each stocked with genuine motor accessories to ensure applicable warranties, according to a Guam Harley-Davidson news release. On the second floor there is a customer lounge with pool tables, TV, comfortable seating, and a beverage station.
