Patten named fitness athlete of the year

Anchorage's Karen Patten was recently named bodybuilding.com's fitness athlete of the year for 2006.
Patten, who trains at Powerhouse Gym, is a certified personal trainer and mother of three who became an International Federation of Bodybuilding professional this year.
Patten won first place in both fitness and figure at the 2005 Alaska State Bodybuilding Fitness and Figures Championships and was the overall fitness champion at the 2006 National Physique Committee Emerald Cup Fitness and Figure Championships in Washington.
