Pumping Iron -Digitally Enhanced DeltoidsDate: 03.12.2002 Posted by: Anabolic Info Team United States
If you thought Arnold Schwarzenegger couldn't do comedy, then you never saw him psych out Lou Ferrigno in the ultimate body building documentary, "Pumping Iron."
Celebrating his 25th anniversary, this Friday night on Cinemax at 8 p.m. Cinemax honors this 1979 massive muscle fest with a digitally enhanced presentation, and you know what that means: digitally enhanced deltoids.
The film documents the 1975 battle for the title of Mr. Olympia between Schwarzenegger and Ferrigno. And if the prospect of a title bout between the Terminator and the Incredible Hulk seems to mammoth for words, it is.
All you have to do is look at them. Pumping Iron is more than just a showdown between this touring twosome. It's an exploration of the entire sub-culture of body building.
A sub-culture that would later explode thanks to the fitness craze of the 80's.
Also part of the evening presentation are two new documentaries on the documentary: "Iron and Beyond," and "Raw Iron, the Making of Pumping Iron." In that one, you get to see a lot of outtakes.
All in all, it makes for one impressive, but bizarre night of television.
