Renkert to defend bodybuilding title

Carla Renkert of Fairbanks will be defending her masters women’s bodybuilding title on Saturday in the 24th annual Alaska State Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure Championships at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Anchorage.
Matt Lowden, a professional bodybuilder who was born in Fairbanks and now lives in Juneau, will be a guest poser, and Lee Priest, a veteran of the Mr. Olympia competition, will be among the judges, and will also be conducting a seminar following the pre-judging portion of the show.
Nearly 50 people are scheduled to participate in the event, which begins with pre-judging at noon at and the main show follows at 7 p.m.
