Sabah robbed of a gold medal, says the SBBADate: 04.08.2003 Posted by: Anabolic Info Team Malaysia
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah was robbed of an assured gold medal by unfair judging in the Mr Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
Sabah Amateur Bodybuilding Association (SBBA) Deputy President Hamdin Abdul Kadir said bantamweight bodybuilder William Amro should have won the medal.
“But he was given third placing instead when everyone in the hall could clearly see that he is the best in his category to win the gold medal,” he fumed.
“I would have been satisfied if at least he was given second placing.
“As the team manager, I am not satisfied with the biased judging and we will write to the national bodybuilding body to protest when we return to Sabah,” he said.
According to Hamdin, when the result was announced, many of the people in the hall jeered at the organisers.
“As a qualified national judge, William’s form compared with the first and second place winners were clearly very wide apart.
“We were very sure that we’d win at least one gold medal from William,” he said.
William is the defending champion in his category and he was also the Mr Sabah held last month in Kinarut.
However, he said he was pleased that the other bodybuilders, with the exception of Matiu Jungkim, won a medal each.
Sabah won three silver medals through Henry Dayah (Masters), Hajimin Wasili (Flyweight) and Jamiun Doraman (Lightweight).
Oswald Jebing (Light Flyweight), Mohd Abdul Razak (Welterweight) and Geinod Lojitin (Heavyweight) contributed the bronze medals.
“I am, nevertheless, pleased that all of the bodybuilders won a medal each except for Matiu,” he said. Hamdin said Matiu and Jamiun took part in the same category and has similar weight.
