Schwarzenegger gives weightlifting team a boost

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) found himself in familiar surroundings on Thursday: surrounded by weighlifters.
The former Mr. Universe headlined a fundraiser for the Sacramento High School weightlifting club, which in the past few years has produced some of the best weightlifters in the country.
The governor pledged to raise $50,000 to help the mostly urban kids travel to international competitions, tweeting, "Time to help Sac High's great weightlifting team raise the money they need for the world championships."
The fundraiser was held at Lucca restaurant, and the kids demonstrated their skills on a side patio during the party (shown here). According to organizers, the evening raised $55,000.
During his remarks, Schwarzenegger told guests that an Austrian politician had been one of his earliest supporters during his teen years in competitive weightlifting, and he wanted to pay it forward.
The governor later tweeted this photo, writing, "These kids are incredible."
