The Singapore Bodybuilding Federation has set a target of between three and four gold medals at this year's SEA Games in Vietnam.
And the first point of selection was the National Championships held at Kallang Theatre.
Originally slated for April, the event had been postponed due to SARS.
Familiar faces ruled the day like Asian Games gold medalist Abdul Halim Haron who took top spot in the welter weight division.
Another stalwart Ibrahim Sihat clinched the bantam weigth division.
And for Edwin Tan, a former national champion, victory in the light weight division was sweet.
Tan was making a comeback after a two-year ban for consuming dope.
The competition this time also tossed some budding and promising young blood, like Mohammad Sophian Jasni in the Junior Open.
Though the favourite, Sophian lost out to eventual winner Jakson Quek.
