A muscle-rippling, vein-popping performance has earned bodybuilder Sean Constable the title of Mr Plymouth 2003.
The virtual newcomer to the scene, who scooped the Mr Plymouth First Timer trophy last year, says he is amazed at taking the city's top fitness award after taking up the sport only two-and-a-half years ago.
Sean was put through his paces at the Athenaeum, competing against the best bodybuilders in the city - and he came out on top.
He said: "I was up against nine men from across the city, all representing different gyms. I've only been training for just over two years so I didn't expect to win, but I was amazed when I was chosen."
The 33-year-old builder, who works for AD Williams of Saltash, flexed with the other competitors before putting on a solo show to the music of Light Of A Rainbow by Toucan, watched by 350 people.
Of his new title, he said: "I'm speechless. It means so much to me because I have achieved this title in little over two years - and I was up against the best bodybuilders in Plymouth.
"Last year's Mr Plymouth, Jon Kerley, helped to train me and I owe him a lot of thanks. He told me when I first started to train that it wouldn't be long before I got noticed - and he was right!"
Apart from the title and the trophy, Sean, who also works part-time as a door supervisor at the Dance Academy, now hope magazines will approach him for features.
He plans to keep training and would like to enter April's British Grand Prix - the top UK bodybuilding event. He currently trains five nights a week at Bodylines Gym, off Union Street, behind The Octagon.
Sean, whose hero is ageing Austrian strongman Arnold Schwarzeneggar, said: "Dieting has helped me get into shape. I was just over 12st, but, with working out and dieting, I dropped to 10?st.
"I think my height helped as well. I'm only 5ft 6ins, and I was up against six-footers - I think the judges liked a shorter man.
"There's a stigma about bodybuilders being meatheads. We're not all like that - some of us just like to get to our peak fitness and look good with it."
The competition, sponsored by Bodylines Gym and Flex Fitness of Plympton, also found four other bodybuilding stars.
Darren Weekes won this year's First Timers award, John Southern, 20, won the Junior title and Steve Swatton took the Senior award.
Jenna Gillan flew the flag for fit Plymouth women as she claimed the Miss Plymouth Bodybuilder Award ahead of Sara Frost.
Organiser Tony Turner said: "It was a sell-out competition and a great success - one of the best we have ever had.
"Although we were sponsored by Bodylines and Flex Fitness, lots of gyms across Plymouth supported us and made it a great event."
