Sylvester Stallone nicked in OzDate: 16.03.2007 Posted by: Anabolic Info Team Canada
Sylvester 'Muscles' Stallone has been accused of trying to smuggle a Chinese drug called Jintropin which supposedly "builds muscle, cuts body fat, improves skin tone and heightens sexual desire" into Australia.
"The 60-year-old action man faces one charge of importing a prohibited substance, according to papers filed at Downing Centre Local Court yesterday," says The Australian. "The charge carries a possible penalty of $110,000, but Stallone will face a top fine of $22,000, the maximum a local court can impose."
But Jintropin isn't without unsavoury side effects, says the story, quoting Ken Ho, head of endocrinology at St Vincent's Hospital and the Pituitary Research Unit at the Garvan Institute, as saying, "People can have an enlarged jaw, a big nose, a big tongue, your hands can become quite big."
The drug, which works by breaking down fat and building muscle, had a legitimate medical purpose for the treatment of pituitary gland disorders, but had gained popularity with people wanting to 'beautify themselves'."
"Stallone has based much of his movie success on his physical appearance and prowess, and over the years has pursued bodybuilding, exercise and nutrition regimes, as well as marketing nutritional supplements," says the Australian Associated Press.
"His official website dedicates a section to exercise and nutrition but also includes a 1991 interview in which he is quoted as saying steroids merely make you "a cumbersome, ape-like goon".
Here's a clip from his home page:
RicePuddin (?): Hey there Sly, you are so buff and beautiful, how about giving the little guy a hand and putting out a workout tape with your tips and tricks on it? I'd buy it and I bet a lot of other folks would too!
Sly: Well, funny you should bring that up. We are working on something that is mega.
Stallone and ex-US president George W. Bush were born on the same day.
