Vietnam bagged five gold medals as well as three silver and one bronze at the Asia Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship, ranking first among the 15 Asian countries and territories competing at the event.
The Republic of Korea and Singapore took the second and the third places, respectively.
Vietnam's gold medals were carried off by Nguyen Minh Phong at the 55 kg, Dang Thanh Tung, 60 kg and Nguyen Thu Nguyen, 65kg, of the junior men's weight divisions; Nguyen Thi My Linh at the women's 52 kg weight division and Trinh Phi Hung at the 55 kg master weight division.
Vietnam first-ever silver medal was secured by Pham Ngoc Trang in the fitness event.
The two-day championship, which ended in southern Dong Nai province on September 2, had attracted 95 athletes from 15 Asian countries and territories, who competed for 18 sets of medals in five events, including the junior men’s bodybuilding, the master's men’s bodybuilding, the women’s bodybuilding, and the miss fitness and miss body fitness.
