West Penn Natural Bodybuilding Championships slated for Saturday

In 1980, when he won the Alle-Kiski Scholastic Bodybuilding Championship, Rick Balbo said bodybuilding was more popular because stigmas weren't attached to the sport.

"It's a cult sport now," Balbo said. "But back then there were high school bodybuilding teams."

Balbo, 40, said he wants to bring enthusiasm for the sport back to the area.

On Saturday, he will be promoting the West Penn Natural Bodybuilding Championships at the Penn State New Kensington Theater.
