ARMOUR LEADS BY SIX AT TEXAS OPEN
TOMMY Armour is running away from the field at the Valero Texas Open. He birdied the last three holes of Saturday's third round to finish off a seven-under-par 63.
His third round of 64 or better has him at 21-under 189, holding a six-shot lead over Duffy Waldorf.
'I've never shot 21 under in a tournament before,' said Armour, who tied Mark Calcavecchia's PGA Tour record-setting 54-hole total of 189 at the 2001 Phoenix Open. He also set the PGA Tour mark in relation to par at 21 under, breaking the 18-under total shared by Tiger Woods at the 2000 WGC-NEC Invitional and Bob Gilder at the 1982 Manufacturers Hanover Westchester Classic.
